Merle Harmon's Sports Career - Highlights |
|
More than 40 years ago, Merle launched his sports casting career during his senior year at the University of Denver. Over the years, Merle has been the voice of Major League Baseball teams and called the New York Jets games for nine seasons. He's even announced Winter Olympics and World Games. Take a look at some highlights of Merle's sports casting experience:
A broadcast to remember: Merle drew plenty of memorable assignments during his 45 years in sports broadcasting, but the one on the night of August 8, 1974 was unique. He went into the booth to call a World Football League game and became the only sports announcer in history to introduce the President of the United States for a speech on national television. With the start of the game on hold, the camera moved to the White House Oval Office where a grim Richard Nixon informed the nation that he was resigning the next day. "After that, our game was pretty anti-climatic," Merle said. The speaker you need for your next event! Merle Harmon is a distinguished member of the National Speaker's Association of North Texas. He is the ideal choice when you want a speaker with five decades of experience in sports broadcasting. His humor is legendary as is his ability to motivate your audience. His award winning business background makes him the ideal Keynote for your event. |
